We're here at the end of all things, where the Pahvans misstepped and made a terrible mistake, where the Discovery makes a daring gambit to take the next step forward, and we all boldly go for one last time in 2017 as the first half of the season comes to a dramatic conclusion. Join us for "Into the Forest I Go", and thoughts from listeners on what they've enjoyed from Discovery so far.Read More
Hello friends, and welcome back to our continuing Discovery coverage. Today we talk about "Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum," the penultimate episode of the fall half of this season. The table is set and Saru gets owned as we wonder about Cornwell and talk about how nice it is to have Trek book sensibilities on a show like this.Read More
Discovery barrels through the first half of the season but we still have books to read, and this week we complete our journey through the Mission Gamma series! It is one of the most wild books we have read in sheer terms of holy shit moments per page, and specifically tuned to the stuff we love about Trek. It is a very, very good time.

Hello everyone! Welcome back to our Discovery recaps! We're here to talk about episode 7, "Magic to Make the Sanest Man Go Mad", and deviate into our thoughts on Tilly, Mudd in DIS versus ToS, our hopes for the show, and the Ash Tyler problem. It's a good show, even if we're very punchy from recording our Book Club right before (which will be up next week).
Please support us on patreon.com/abnormalmapping if you can!
Jackson's preferred Discovery Recap they shout out can be found here.
We go on for ages about this week's Discovery, which is the most deep lore nonsense for episode six of a brand new star trek show! Sarek's Brain! Lorca's Scars! Klingon Spies! It's all kicking off, and we're just along for the ride.Read More

Discovery is here! We're going to bring you our takes every week the show is going, and that starts now. You don't have to be watching Discovery to enjoy these takes, but we are going full spoiler with the show so don't listen if you intend to get around to it and care about that sort of thing.
These episodes are going to be much more informal so expect a goofier, more earnest, messier time. It begins here, with the two part pilot! "The Vulcan Hello" and "Battle of the Binary Stars" are today's episodes!Read More
After the best Star Trek book we have yet read, today we are tragically brought here to tackle one of the worst. But luckily, this is Second Officer Slog, and we have read it so you don't have to! It leads to a very rowdy and fun discussion of the myriad ways that Bad Star Trek manifests throughout the series, and the ways we react to them individually and combined.
In addition, we watch two episodes of The Original Series and have a fantastic, fantastic time.

Welcome to the first in our irregular series of episodes focused around Star Trek comics! No episodes this time, it's a much shorter and looser affair, as we take you through on a journey of a random Star Trek comic we picked off the digital shelf.
This time, we are reading Perchance to Dream, a comic from 2000 set on the Enterprise-D between the events of All Good Things and Generations. It is extremely, extremely bad, and we had a great time experiencing the trainwreck. Please, come experience it with us.Read More

Welcome to month three of Second Officer Slog, after the explosive two-parter to kick off the DS9 Relaunch we take it down a notch, for a more relaxing and subdued vacation with everyone's favourite Starfleet Fascists: Section 31. We're back for our second voyage as we obliterate the last of our pre-launch backlog and feel our way through this raucous second half of the DS9 Relaunch pilot. Also, we talk about what might be the stupidest episode of TNG, even if we love it.

It's the much delayed maiden voyage of the latest and not-so-greatest ship of the fleet as M and Jackson launch Second Officer Slog. This book club podcast attempts to be a window into Star Trek's expanded universe through laughter and explaining just what the hell happens when the cameras stop rolling on DS9 and a bunch of authors descend on the remains of the show. Thus we begin with the DS9 relaunch in book form, discussing prophecy, Bajor, and the mechanics of space flight. This is the first episode of Second Officer Slog.
